Description

Storytelling is nearly everywhere in creative media today, and I myself didn't know how much I actually loved it until I started writing myself.

Over time, I've grown to really appreciate (and adore) the art of storytelling. Stories keep growing and evolving with the medium as well, as we keep finding new and innovative ways to tell and convey stories within games. Realizing how a game asset of a weathered bench can immediately tell a story about itself without telling a single word is one of many examples of how storytelling is so exciting.

Since my love for stories and storytelling has grown so much, I've been busy honing my skills to become a bit better at understanding and creating stories. I've read many books by now about writing story ideas as well as how stories can be adapted into a narrative within a game. This page will be dedicated to showcasing my stories and my growth overtime.

Fleeting Fear

Fleeting fear was one of the very first stories I've created within Twine, and one of my very first steps into writing and immersive storytelling.

The story was created for a school assignment where we learned to create themes, story structure and character creation. This eventually cultivated into a branching narrative which includes different choices and multiple endings.

Synopsis:
Tristan Hudou is a young adult coping with mental illness which leaves him barely unable to go outside. His mental state also leaves him troubled with trusting others, always reeling back to his long-time friend Dana, the only one he really trusts.
His psychiatrist sees so little progression in Tristan’s condition that he wants to refer Tristan to a mental hospital called; “The Seventh Heaven”, fearing that he might deteriorate even further. Tristan is doubtful but eventually decides to commit himself after he gets convinced by Dana.
While being doubtful and distrustful the first few days of his stay, Tristan slowly learns to open himself up to the hospital staff and allowing them to help him. That is until a weird stranger starts talking to him at night, telling him about a much more sinister plot taking place in the background of the facility where they perform inhuman acts on the patients. He hints at Tristan that he needs to plan his escape, however, Tristan ignores his advice as mad bramblings.
After his encounter with the stranger, the ambience of the hospital starts to turn gloomier over the next few days. While Tristan does not try to let the strangers’ words invade his mind too much, he is forced to meet with the reality of the hospital when a patient from his ward suddenly bursts into delirium. As the crazed patient is being taken away by staff, Tristan follows them, ending up in an unknown part of the hospital normally closed off to patients. As Tristan sneaks to the ward, the truth is revealed to him and Tristan decides heed the words of the rambling stranger. By placing trust in the people around him and careful plotting through the hospital, Tristan’s fate will be determined.
